Chair

​Dr. Mamta Gautam is an internationally renowned psychiatrist, consultant, certified coach, author and speaker.  A pioneer in the area of Physician Health and Well-being, she is known as the “The Doctor’s Doctor”.  Her two main areas of focus are Physician Health and Physician Leadership.  She is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards for her innovative work in physician health, and has been awarded Distinguished Fellowships in both the Canadian and American Psychiatric Associations.  One of the earliest physicians in Canada to undertake coaching training, she is thrilled to lead this dynamic group of physician coaches colleagues.

Vice Chair

​Dr. Malcolm Ogborn is a retired pediatrician and pediatric nephrologist who has held senior leadership positions academic, clinical and physician association organizations. He has been a nationally funded clinical and basic science researcher. He has extensive board experience in healthcare foundations and community organizations.  He was in the inaugural cohort of physicians awarded the Canadian Certified Physician Executive credential.  He now works exclusively in coaching and leadership development of healthcare personnel, particularly physicians as The Optimistic Doc.

Mary Yates has spent more than 40 years in the business of helping individuals and organizations through the change process where the majority of her work has been in the health care and hospital field. She has been on the Faculty of CMA’s Physician Leadership Institute for 22 years providing leadership learning to physicians across the country.  As the former Director of OMA’s Physician Workplace Support Program, she has had a great deal of experience in the area of physician communication and behaviour. She is currently Principal of Align Associates Inc. providing personal, leadership and team development for physicians.

Governance/Secretariat

Sarah Thomas is a governance development expert and trusted consultant and coach. Sarah believes governance provides the blueprint for ‘the way we lead’ organizations. A certified coach, Sarah brings well over 15 years of governance leadership, organizational design, and operations experience; she holds an MBA, MSc in biomedical engineering and BSc in neuroscience. Sarah has spent a significant portion of her career sharpening her skills in the field of medicine, partnering with physicians in leadership. Sarah owns her own successful coaching and consulting firm Salt Catalyst Consulting.​

Governance/Secretariat

Dr Beth Pedersen is an orthopaedic surgeon, researcher and executive coach.  She loves building and fixing bones in the operating room and is currently building and researching optimal pain management strategies for surgery.  As a coach, she has helped physicians to work through challenges in leadership, communication, conflict, practice management, wellness and burnout.  She is a LEADS certified coach and is active with individual and 360 assessments.  Most recently, she has created an online course around confidence for women in professional roles.  Beth is excited to use her passion to build and improve things with this new national coaching network for physicians!

Membership 

Judi Platt is a Registered Nurse who has worked specifically with Physicians for more than 20 years in her role as Clinical Coordinator in the Physician Health Program at the OMA.  Judi also holds certification as an Addiction Registered Nurse (CARN), Human Services Counsellor (HSC) and Coach (ACC) through the ICF. Judi owns her own coaching and consulting practice, Positive Steps Coaching. She currently consults to the Nurses Health Program of Ontario as a member of their clinical advisory panel. Prior to working in Physician Health, Judi worked in hospital based mental health and addictions and was extremely active in the addiction treatment community in Toronto, serving on numerous committees in leadership positions. Some of Judi’s strengths lie in her relational and communication skills.  Judi embraces a coaching model that focuses on the strengths and values of the individual. ​

Research

Dr. Abi Sriharan is an internationally recognized research scholar, leadership coach and speaker with a wealth of experience in human resources and human capital strategy in the health sector. Dr. Sriharan leads the Systems Leadership and Innovation program at the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation and teaches in the areas of health systems leadership, innovation, and transformation.  Prior to joining the Institute of Health Policy, Management, and Evaluation, she held several senior executive leadership positions in health and education sectors in Canada and the USA.

Best Coaching Practices/Community of Learning

Ted Bober MSW RSW, held clinical and leadership roles in hospital and community mental health settings before joining the Ontario Medical Association’s Physician Health Program in 2004. He currently serves as the Director of Clinical Services. As a coach and consultant, Ted has supported numerous professionals, emergency response teams, and safety-sensitive organizations working with adverse events, pandemics, and disasters. He has presented on professional health at scientific conferences in Canada, the US, and the UK. Ted’s published work includes the book, In the Line of Fire: Traumatic Stress in the Emergency Services, published by Oxford University Press.

Strategic Planning

Dr. Doina Lupea has recently retired as Senior Director at the Physician Health Program, Ontario Medical Association.  She is  a clinician and coach experienced in health services management and research administration, with a deep understanding of the health care system. She has strong leadership experience developing and managing complex programs in a dynamic environment with multi-stakeholders involved, a sophisticated relationship builder, very personable, persuasive and determined, who makes things happen.
